This happened before of course in Switzerland with Crypto AG, the provider of secure encryption equipment to over 100 countries, which was owned by the US's CIA all the time. And ironically it is always what the Chinese are suspected of doing.
Busting criminals though of course is a good thing as long as innocent people are not being spied on (like one of Germany's Allies were caught doing on their Chancellor).
