A local follower of mine invited me to see his new PinePhone that arrived today in Cape Town. Must say I'm very impressed with it.
Apart from the known hardware kill switches, I could see it is slightly longer than the iPhone 12 Pro, but also slightly thinner, and of course it has an easily removable battery. What I did not know is that it takes a standard Samsung type battery, so it is pretty cheap and easy to replace that battery (the thing that usually goes on a phone).
The basics seem to work OK, like webapps and browser etc, but what he needs to test a bit is how easily apps like Signal will install and work, if installed as native Linux applications.
